BAPTISM IN THE HOLY SPIRIT

When you have received Jesus as your Savior and King you have been spiritually born again. Your spiritual eyes have been opened to see the Kingdom of God. When you allow Holy Spirit rest upon you and lead you, you will live in the Kingdom of God already on the earth. Then Jesus and His character will rule and motivate you. Jesus will heal, restore and change you and then you will be able to get into this heavenly life style.

The anointing of the Holy Spirit means co-operation with Him. You have to learn a life style of humble obedience because Holy Spirit never forces anything upon His people. He invites you, calls you and speaks to you and you will follow freely His call. Therefore you have to get rid of rebellion and disobedience in your heart. Receiving a water baptism is one clear evidence of your willingness to submit your life to God. There are more steps on the way but always God waits for your permission before He comes and touches you.

All powers of darkness operate by violence, that can be also in a "soft" form, like temptation, manipulation or mind control. Holy Spirit will come to you and work with you in the relationship of complete freedom, which is a new kind of relationship for a man who is used to be oppressed and dominated by the powers of darkness. When Holy Spirit comes, He will teach you this new life style with great patience and surprising acccuracy. He will operate with you in love relationship of sensitive obedience and freedom. God never forces His presence upon you, He always asks whether you want it!

Acts 2:1-4: And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

This is the way how the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples. He can come in many ways but always there are these similarities:

1) Holy Spirit comes when you are in rest and peace before God and men. The greek word for 'one accord' really means 'with one mind', 'with one accord', 'with one passion'. There was no strife, competition, pressure or manipulation. The 120 disciples in the upper room had only one great passion to receive the Holy Spirit.

2) Holy Spirit came in a surprising way, which they could not expect. It will always be like that. When you receive the Holy Spirit it will be beyond your understanding or expectations. The touch of the Holy Spirit will be new, fresh and surprising every time.

3) In the Holy Spirit there was also a form of fiery tongues or flames. This is because the Holy Spirit will burn the junk of sin out from your life. When you expect to receive more of the Holy Spirit, you must be ready for the deeper purifying work in you.

4) When the Holy Spirit comes to you He will take you over. He will fill you and overwhelm you. He does not do this against your will although His touch migh be surprising. When you have unlocked your heart in prayer, in hunger and thirst He will come to you in a surprising, overwhelming and irresistible way.

5) As a sign of the filling with the Holy Spirit the disciples started to speak in heavenly language which was inspired by the Holy Spirit. They did not speak according to the inspiration and direction of their natural mind but their brains and vocal organs submitted to the supernatural inspiration of God. This will be a sign about the filling of the Holy Spirit but it will be only the first step on the road of receiving the POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. Jesus said the sign and evedence about the filling with the Holy Spirit will be that the disciples will receive THE POWER! Jesus wants to give the same anointing and power to you!

Acts 1:8: But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

6) As a result of the presence of the Holy Spirit the disciples lost their human dignity and they behaved in a way that people around them marveled and were astonished. Some even mocked them. When you are seeking the filling of the Holy Spirit you must be prepared to lose your human control, pride and dignity. Holy Spirit comes to your spirit and makes your head a servant. It is a new life style to let the Spirit lead instead of your own understanding!

7) The filling with the Holy Spirit is a continuing process. Speaking with new tongues is only the first evidence of the submission to the Holy Spirit. There are wonderful gifts and offices of the Holy Spirit which God wants to plant and activate in you. After the first outpouring of the Holy Spirit there came many new and more powerful outpourings, even the earth was shaking in one occasion! This repeated and continuous outpouring of the Holy Spirit started a great revival in Jerusalem and many great, extraordinary and special miracles happened through the ministry of the apostles.

8) Only Holy Spirit can give you the qualification and capacity to minister the gospel. All supernatural gifts of God are released by the Holy Spirit. All offices of the Holy Spirit are released by the Spirit. That is the only way, but it is for anyone who is willing to lay down his life before God to be used for His eternal purposes!

9) The presence of the Holy Spirit prepares you for the life style in heaven and for the meeting with your heavenly Father before His glorious throne. The life in the Spirit on the earth is a glorious foretaste of the heavenly life which is to come for those who are in Jesus Christ.

10) Holy Spirit is the seal of our salvation. God's love is poured out into our hearts by the Holy Spirit. The filling with the Holy Spirit is not some extra ingredient for our spiritual life. It is the final purpose of the redemption and it is the power through which Jesus will manifest and glorify Himself in the world.

You can be filled with the Holy Spirit anywhere but easiest it would be in an atmosphere of praise and worship. It is not necessary that someone would pray for you. Let your mind rest in Jesus and only receive. When you feel the inspiration of the Holy Spirit you may start speaking in tongues, sing in tongues, start shaking or moving. The Holy Spirit may lead you to kneel down in worship and adoration before the Lord. The touch of the Holy Spirit may strike you down on the floor but even then He first asks the permission of your heart! You will learn to discern the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and learn to follow Him.

God releases His Holy Spirit because it is HIS PURPOSE AND PLAN FOR THE MANKIND. Holy Spirit is the power and light by whom we can receive, understand and proclaim the Kingdom of God. In the Holy Spirit manifests God's love, mercy and faithfulness. Holy Spirit is your counselor, comforter, power, wisdom and protector all the time and everywhere. He is always available for your benefit.

John 14:16-18: And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

Luke 11:13: If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
